Alejandro González Iñárritu brings a hugely entertaining cast to the screen for Birdman. A resurrection of Michael Keaton, Birdman follows neurotic Hollywood veteran Riggan Thomson as he attempts to relaunch his career to a New York theatre audience. Famed for Birdman, the superhero role in the films he made,Thomson gets short shrift from critics for his attempts to reassert himself as a serious actor. Birdman hovers at the back of Thomson’s psyche as a booming off screen voice at first, later to appear in his full masked and winged glory, faltering Thomson’s moves to produce his play and make a comeback.

Keaton is supported by some standout performances from such luminaries as Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts. Birdman won big at the Oscars and if you want to see why come down to Hyde Park Lido for a night of huge entertainment and sophistication.
