Black Panther (2018)
For a man who disapproves of diplomacy, you're getting quite good at it.
The Nomad Cinema returns to East Village E20 this August bank holiday weekend for outdoor screenings of Marvel’s Black Panther, beloved Paddington 2 and the phenomenon that is The Greatest Showman.
Screenings will be hosted in Victory Park at the heart of East Village, the former London 2012 Athlete’s Village, which holds community events and activities throughout the year.
Picking up from Captain America: Civil War, T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home to the African kingdom of Wakanda, regarded by the outside world as poor and primitive. Within its impenetrable mountain borders though, is a prosperous, sophisticated, technologically advanced society. Its wonders - mono-rails, flying cars, et al - are powered by the secret energy source, the miraculous element vibranium, which also powers the bodysuit which transforms T'Challa into superhero Black Panther. Back home T'Challa is supported by an awful lot of pretty awesome women - secret agent Lupita Nyong'o, inventor Letitia Wright, and (non-female!) Forest Whitaker as his Adviser. You'd think that if T'Challa could just protect Wakanda from the outside world, it would be Paradise found, but no such prospect: there is a pretender to T'Challa's throne, the CIA are about, and word of the valuable vibranium has leaked out...
East Village spans 67 acres and is a thriving neighbourhood of more than 6,000 residents and 28 independent retailers, curated by Get Living which owns and manages 1,500 homes for market rent.
Located in Zone 2/3 East Village is well connected and easily accessible via public transport. DLR and London Underground services from central London to Stratford take less than 20 minutes and high speed services from Kent to Stratford International take less than 45 minutes. Food and drink is allowed within the venue so bring your own or sample some of the great eateries around the area. We will also be joined by our friends from Melitta Coffee who will be providing free coffee.
