Pop-up cinema screening of The Maltese Falcon at Whiteleys Shopping Centre. The Nomad Cinema presents John Huston’s detective noir for a bargain £8 per ticket.
They don’t make films like they used to. Nor do they make cool, effortless stars like Bogart. Based on the novel by Dashiell Hammett, this slick film noir weaves a thrilling web of crime, murder and… bird statues. The Maltese Falcon has been named as one of the greatest films of all time by Roger Ebert and Entertainment Weekly, and rightly so. It earned three Academy Award nominations and set the film noir bar high for a whole generation. Don’t take our word for it, come to Whiteleys to see for yourself.
This winter The Nomad Cinema takes up residence at Whiteleys Shopping Centre, screening a mixture of recent releases and classic films from all eras.
* This new pop-up cinema concept, created by FITCH and The Nomad, can be found in the space vacated by Books Etc, referencing its past occupier with wordplay on the walls and speech bubbles dropping down from the ceiling.
* Film posters, memorabilia and projections of vintage Pearl & Dean adverts complete the cinematic décor.
* The Vestal Vodka pop-up bar will serve curated cocktails, wine and beer, with popcorn and ice cream available from the adjacent beach huts (only food and drink bought on site is allowed in the cinema).
* Pull up a pew or dive into our ball pit which doubles as the most unusual cinema seating you’ll ever experience.
