Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Tickets available on the Door
Nobody could've guessed that a decades late new film to add to the Mad Max franchise was what cinema was missing - other than its creator George Miller that is. At 71 years old, it's clear that Miller hasn't lost his touch, creating a scorching, high-octane film that's completely unlike anything else that's been released in recent years. Tom Hardy takes over from Mel Gibson as the tortured titular character, joined by Charlize Theron on a speed-defying car chase to liberate the wives of evil dictator Immortan Joe and attempt to find utopia in a dismal dessert wasteland. Coming straight from an Academy Awards, where it dominated the proceedings thanks to its technical achievements, Mad Max: Fury Road has to be seen to be believed.
