Sunday 15th March

Doors: 6:00 pm

Screening: 7:00 pm

£25 (includes cocktail + burlesque show)

Join us in the plush surroundings of The Hippodrome Casino's elegant Matcham Room as we resume our series of Sunday evening cabaret-style screenings.

This lavish film from pop-music-obsessed Luhrmann tweaks the conventions of the musical genre by mixing a period romance with anachronistic dialogue and songs. Ewan McGregor stars as Christian, who meets the absinthe- and alcohol-addicted Toulouse-Lautrec (John Leguizamo) at The Moulin Rouge dance hall in 1890s Montmartre. Star courtesan Satine (Nicole Kidman) becomes the star of the play Christian is writing, which parallels the couple’s romance and uses music from a century later, including songs by Nirvana, Madonna, the Beatles, and Queen.

Tickets include a Moulin Rouge cocktail on arrival, an exclusive burlesque mini-performance from the Hippodrome Hunnies before the film + a £10 super odd chip!
Please note: This screening is partly seated at tables in cabaret style [first come, first seated] with waiter service throughout the film.

Strict 18+ admission policy: This event takes place within a casino. Therefore, although the BBFC film classification is 12A, the event itself is strictly for those 18+ only. ID will be required on entry.

The Hippodrome motto is ‘enjoy and play responsibly’.
