Join us at the National Maritime Museum for a Sally Potter's "sumptuous and witty" (Adam Roberts, Film 4) adaptation, made over 20 years ago, that says so much about topical gender issues in 2016.

Orlando is a film in which the protagonist - played to perfection, as always, by Tilda Swinton - goes to sleep in the 16th century as a man, and wakes as a woman. Orlando follows Swinton's  apparently ageless character through the following decades, as she comes to terms with her feminine life. In sumptuous setting and with wonderful costume, Potter creates a world where all the details matter.

The evening will include a performance from the London Oriana Choir. Their appearance with Associate Conductor Nicholas Chalmers is part of their ‘Songs for Queen & Country’ programme, an eclectic performance from London’s most exciting and versatile choir, including music taken from five15 - their pioneering new initiate to support and highlight the music of women composers. With reverence to HRH Queen Elizabeth in song from John Wilbye’s ‘The Lady Oriana’, part of the most prominent coronation collections ever compiled, and respect to ‘The Great Bard’ himself with a contemporary setting of ‘Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer’s Day’, this event promises to ignite and inspire any music lover through spell-binding choral settings for a summer’s eve. Be sure to join us for some "thrilling vocal pyrotechnics”! (Evening Standard)

1000 Londoners:
Jackie in Southwark is 51-60 and is a costume maker for films such as Harry Potter and Les Miserables.

Please note: ticket types include Standard (sit on the grass with a complimentary bottle of Meantime beer) or Magic Carpet (stretch out on a luxury carpet, with back support and a bumper goodie bag) & prices vary accordingly.
