2018 marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: This year at Brompton Cemetery we present our cinematic tribute to Mary Shelley; three adaptation of gothic classics by novelists at the height of their powers: Mary Shelley, Daphne du Maurier and Stephen King.

A rare chance to enjoy an outdoor screening of one of the most iconic psychological thrillers in the atmospheric splendour of London’s most famous grade 1 listed cemetery.

Each screening will be introduced with a 5 minute reading from the source novel.

The Shining proved to be a defining role for Jack Nicholson and a redefining film for the horror genre. This adaptation of Stephen King’s novel is interpreted by visionary Stanley Kubrick, whose study of madness and ambiguous evil is delivered with great creativity and awe inspiring technique.

What unfolds is Jack Torrance’s (Nicholson’s) descent into insanity and ‘redrum’, with scenes that are now legendary amongst film lovers. Kubrick, a perfectionist, produced a film of great precision, a chilling piece of cinema which is sure to make you jump!

The Nomad Cinema is thrilled to partner with curated online cinema MUBI to present this summer's programme of amazing outdoor screenings. It's the perfect fit: two adventurous, independent companies dedicated to bringing great cinema to a wide audience. And to make it even more exciting, every ticket to a Nomad screening will include 30 free days of MUBI!
