An enduring tale of love and friendship, it single-handedly revived the Italian film industry, and of course introduced audiences around the world to the unforgettable characters of Toto and Alfredo. As Mark Kermode puts it, “recent changes to cinema which have seen the projectionist's art sidelined add a further layer of poignancy to the magical memories.”
