Nomad followers use the main entrance on Hampton Court Road, on the north bank of the river. On entering the grounds, follow the long path enticingly named ‘The Wilderness’, until you arrive at The Governor’s Gate where our box office is situated. The screening site is on the East Lawns at the back of the Palace - it’s marked on our map - click on the Show Map button at the bottom of this listing. There is free parking for up to 265 cars inside the main entrance gates, with further overflow parking opposite the main gates on The Green.
Our second night at the wonderful Hampton Court Palace brings you Blake Edwards’ classic romance starring Audrey Hepburn.
Audrey Hepburn was one in a million - help Cancer Research UK raise £1 million in her memory. 15% from each ticket sale will be donated to Cancer Research UK’s Audrey Hepburn appeal. Audrey lost her life to cancer in 1993.
Ahhh, Audrey Hepburn. Hollywood is short on stars like you. You were dazzlingly beautiful, yet somehow never intimidating and you had a smile that could light up the night. It’s you who makes Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s you who made the film a success. It’s you, not the film, that people remember.
That’s not to say that it’s a bad film, far from it. We love it here at Nomad HQ. When we’ve packed up the camel for the night and returned to our yurt high up on the Tibetan plateaus, we’ll get our pyjamas on, crack open a bottle of Jacob’s Creek and coo and weep as we watch our favourite lady of cinema struggle to find true love in the city that never sleeps. We’ll boo when Mickey Rooney turns up and we’ll cheer when Hannibal from the A-Team works his magic. When we see you looking dewey-eyed, cigarette holder in elegantly gloved hand, we’ll reach for our battered 10-deck of Lambert & Butler king-size menthols and realise that no matter how hard we try, we’ll never look quite as beautiful as you.
We’ll have the usual Nomad range of great food and drink on sale in the park, but you’re free to bring your own picnic. Be sure to get down early and take in the full Nomad treatment, with anything from live theatre to live music, costumes, decoration and a few little surprises along the way. We are particularly pleased to announce that our friends at Photobooth Out of Order will be on hand with their Audrey-inspired bespoke 3D photo studio. Make sure you pay them a visit!
A blanket or low chair is a good idea to sit on, and it gets nippy after sunset, so bring something warm to wear.
