Pop-up cinema screening of Dawn Of The Dead at Whiteleys Shopping Centre. The Nomad Cinema presents George Romero’s zombie satire for a bargain £8 per ticket.
There’s something about old gory horror films that make them a cinematic guilty pleasure. Yes the pre-CGI effects are awful and the acting often worse, but there’s just something right about that. Dawn Of The Dead is one such film. Despite modern remakes and countless spoofs, Romero’s 1978 original remains the best. Prepare to be confused as you want to simultaneously scream in fear and giggle in disbelief at the clichéd horror moments. With blood and guts galore, it is not for the faint-hearted (unless you have someone to hide behind, then you’re completely safe: horror film fact). You have been warned.
This winter The Nomad Cinema takes up residence at Whiteleys Shopping Centre, screening a mixture of recent releases and classic films from all eras.
* This new pop-up cinema concept, created by FITCH and The Nomad, can be found in the space vacated by Books Etc.
* Cinematic décor comes courtesy of an exhibition of vintage film posters from The Reel Picture Company.
* The Vestal Vodka pop-up bar will serve curated cocktails, wine, beer and popcorn, with ice cream available from the Oddono’s Gelati stall (only food and drink bought on site is allowed in the cinema).
* The most unusual cinema seating you’ll ever experience includes beanbags, inflatable wedges, directors chairs and garden benches, plus there’s tiered seating for the more traditional among you.
*And if you spend £10 or more at one of Whiteleys’ restaurants, you’ll be given a voucher that can be exchanged for one free cinema ticket (subject to availability).
