Pop-up cinema screening of Edvard Munch at Whiteleys Shopping Centre. The Nomad Cinema presents the second in a double bill of films curated by the wonderful A Nos Amours collective for only £8 a ticket.
This film is famously described by the late Ingmar Bergman as a work of genius. Peter Watkins’ multi-faceted masterwork is more than just a biopic of the iconic Norwegian Expressionist painter, it is one of the best films ever made about the artistic process. (1974)
Running time: 221mins
A Nos Amours is also a collective of film makers founded by Joanna Hogg and Adam Roberts and is dedicated to programming and screening over-looked or especially potent cinema. The screenings will be a moveable feast, and a mailing list will be established soon. Sign up now by sending a mail to: anosamours2011@gmail.com.
This winter The Nomad Cinema takes up residence at Whiteleys Shopping Centre, screening a mixture of recent releases and classic films from all eras.
* This new pop-up cinema concept, created by FITCH and The Nomad, can be found in the space vacated by Books Etc.
* Cinematic décor comes courtesy of an exhibition of vintage film posters from The Reel Picture Company.
* The Vestal Vodka pop-up bar will serve curated cocktails, wine, beer and popcorn, with ice cream available from the Oddono’s Gelati stall (only food and drink bought on site is allowed in the cinema).
* The most unusual cinema seating you’ll ever experience includes beanbags, inflatable wedges, directors chairs and swinging benches, plus there’s tiered seating for the more traditional among you.
*And if you spend £10 or more at one of Whiteleys’ restaurants, you’ll be given a voucher that can be exchanged for one free cinema ticket (subject to availability)
