The Atacama Desert in Chile is one of the highest and driest places on the planet, which means astronomers can gaze farther into space from there than anywhere else on Earth.
In the 1970s it was also the site of one of Pinochet’s concentration camps, and so attracts survivors who comb the sands for remains of their loved ones. This stunning documentary skillfully juxtaposes nature’s beauty with man’s brutality to deeply moving effect.
