Ever wanted to see one of the most stunning Baz Luhrmann films ever, while sitting in the magnificent gardens of a Grade I listed building in Soho? Surrounded by ivy-covered walls, our newest venue, The House of St Barnabas, is an intimate and exclusive place you might never otherwise stumble upon.
Luhrmann lit a rocket under Shakespeare’s well-known tale of star-cross’d lovers: swapped daggers for guns, ‘fair Verona’ for Verona beach – a brilliantly decaying hybrid of Miami Beach and Mexico City – and sent his camera careering across extravagant sets at beautiful young actors, to a Nellee Hooper-overseen soundtrack of pumping MTV-friendly rock, taking in The Cardigans, Kym Mazelle, Radiohead and many more. Leonardo DiCaprio and Clare Danes are perfectly cast at the centre of this, with solid support in the shape of Paul Sorvino, Pete Postlethwaite, Brian Dennehy, Harold Perrineau as Mercutio and John Leguizamo as fiery Tybalt.
Tickets include not only the chance to see this great film in a unique setting, but also a complimentary drink and delicious nibbles on arrival, courtesy of delicious catering partners Bubble Food.
Please note: the audio for this screening will be via wireless headphones, due to sound restrictions in the garden and to give you optimal sound quality.
