On the banks of the Serpentine in Hyde Park, we invite you to join us for cinema under the stars. The Nomad and The Royal Parks’ summer-long season continues with a three night run at Hyde Park Lido, presenting three very special films under the banner of International Explorations.

We take you to the banks of the Danube for celebrated Serbian director Emir Kusturica’s exuberant madcap gypsy gangster farce, Black Cat White Cat. With more richness of incident, character, energy and delicious oddness in five minutes than most films can muster in their entirety, bring a smile and a bottle and feel free to get up and dance should the notion take you; Kusturica’s own band The No Smoking Orchestra provide an infectious gypsy soundtrack, another glorious layer of fun in this celebration of life in all its mad, loose-cannon carnival. A 12 piece band performing while tied to the trunk of a huge tree; an enormous pig feasting on the carcass of a rusting Trabant; a moustachieod dwarf bride scuttling through the forest disguised as a tree trunk; a coke-snorting gangster with a penchant for Europop; a blimp-like female Roy Orbison extracting a nail from a wooden post using only her buttcheeks – see them all, and much, much more. Roll up, roll up!

Why not book yourself in for all three nights at Hyde Park Lido? On Friday 29 July, we present Jim Jarmusch’s delightful Night On Earth, with Werner Herzog’s masterpiece Fitzcarraldo up on our huge screen on Saturday 30 July.

Hyde Park Lido Cafe will be open, serving snacks, wines, beers and spirits. Bring something warm to wear for after sunset. Places are limited so please book early to avoid maaasive disappointment.
