Pop-up cinema screening of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off at Whiteleys Shopping Centre. The Nomad Cinema presents this much-loved 80s teen comedy for a bargain £8 per ticket.
The 80s stumbled upon a magical film formula – put teenagers front and centre – which produced a bunch of instant classics. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is right up there with the other greats (think Back To The Future and The Breakfast Club). A young Matthew Broderick plays the wise guy who successfully cuts class – the epitome of cool teenage things to do – but this isn’t your average skive. Mad capers with a ‘borrowed’ Ferrari, villainous school principal, and a slight case of catatonia ensue, with Ferris delivering his famous straight-to-camera running commentary throughout. Bunk off school and come join the fun.
This winter The Nomad Cinema takes up residence at Whiteleys Shopping Centre, screening a mixture of recent releases and classic films from all eras.
* This new pop-up cinema concept, created by FITCH and The Nomad, can be found in the space vacated by Books Etc.
* Cinematic décor comes courtesy of an exhibition of vintage film posters from The Reel Picture Company.
* The Vestal Vodka pop-up bar will serve curated cocktails, wine, beer and popcorn, with ice cream available from the Oddono’s Gelati stall (only food and drink bought on site is allowed in the cinema).
* The most unusual cinema seating you’ll ever experience includes beanbags, inflatable wedges, directors chairs and garden benches, plus there’s tiered seating for the more traditional among you.
*And if you spend £10 or more at one of Whiteleys’ restaurants, you’ll be given a voucher that can be exchanged for one free cinema ticket (subject to availability).
