Pop-up cinema screening of Pan’s Labyrinth at Whiteleys Shopping Centre. The Nomad Cinema presents this bewitching adult fairy tale for a bargain £8 per ticket.

Pan’s Labyrinth is the great Mexican director Guillermo del Toro’s magnum opus, his Citizen Kane. It’s a dark, adult fairy tale that speaks to us as a parable on the themes of innocence and evil, destiny and personal choice, death and rebirth. 12-year-old Ofelia moves reluctantly to the countryside with her mother and terrible new stepfather. Near the girl’s new home lies a ruined labyrinth, into which she regularly starts to plunge. There she meets the imposing and sinister faun of the title and a succession of beautifully fearsome creatures from the brilliant, dark depths of the director’s imagination. Prepare to be charmed and chilled in equal measure.

This winter The Nomad Cinema takes up residence at Whiteleys Shopping Centre, screening a mixture of recent releases and classic films from all eras.

* This new pop-up cinema concept, created by FITCH and The Nomad, can be found in the space vacated by Books Etc.

* Cinematic décor comes courtesy of an exhibition of vintage film posters from The Reel Picture Company.

* The Vestal Vodka pop-up bar will serve curated cocktails, wine, beer and popcorn, with ice cream available from the Oddono’s Gelati stall (only food and drink bought on site is allowed in the cinema).

* The most unusual cinema seating you’ll ever experience includes beanbags, inflatable wedges, directors chairs and garden benches, plus there’s tiered seating for the more traditional among you.

*And if you spend £10 or more at one of Whiteleys’ restaurants, you’ll be given a voucher that can be exchanged for one free cinema ticket (subject to availability).
