“You can’t dust for vomit.” “There’s such a fine line between stupid and clever.” “Level 11 volume is better than level 10 volume.”
These are just some of the pearls of rock wisdom that you can expect to learn from Nigel Tufnell, David St. Hubbins and Derek Smalls of the legendary band, nay, the Epic Audio Experience that is Spinal Tap.
This mockumentary shows Filmmaker Marty DiBergi (best known for his commercial about that little dog who chases the covered wagon underneath the sink) as he documents the brit rockers as they strive to crack the U. S of A with their hits - to name a few: “Big Bottoms”, “Sex Farm” and “Stone’enge”. But With gig cancellations and their popularity waning, backstage fights, technical mishaps, interfering groupie girlfriends and finding themselves as support for a puppet show… will the band survive?
Written, directed by and starring comic genius Christopher Guest [Best in Show; The Princess Bride; The Invention of Lying] with fellow comedy veterans Rob Reiner, Bruno Kirby, Harry Shearer and Michael McKean. Universally agreed to be one of the most relentlessly funny films ever made. The story goes Iron Maiden stormed out of the British premiere, convinced they were the model for the group.
Whether you’ve seen this a million times and can recite every line, or if this is one of those classics you’ve heard quoted over and over and need to see what all the fuss is about, come and join us for the chuckle-o-rama that is THIS IS SPINAL TAP!
Fun fact: You can also catch buddies Reiner and Kirby over at Fulham Palace this summer for When Harry Met Sally - and did you know that Rob Reiner also directed Stand By Me?
